One of the great advantages of living in beautiful British Columbia is it permits us to explore some of the best recreational areas in the world. Whether you are camping, boating or cruising around the Vancouver  coast or at the Shuswap Lakes in the beautiful BC interior, to do this we often use recreational vehicles like RV trailers, campers, ATV’s, boats, skidoo’s and many of our other recreational toys. Ensuring you have the right insurance for each of your recreational vehicles will help you enjoy the scenery without worrying about having the proper coverages in place.

Each one of the recreational toys we stated above all have different coverage requirements. Some are targets and are more likely to be stolen than other recreational vehicles. In Vancouver, or anywhere in the province it is a good idea to have the proper coverage to protect your asset.

Importing an Automobile

By admin, 1 August, 2008, 1 Comment

Right now with the exchange rate hovering around par with the US Dollar, many Canadians are contemplating purchasing vehicles in the USA and importing them into Canada. Although the savings appear to be valid, ensuring you comply with all the importation rules is critical to avoid delays, headaches and additional costs. Take the time to research your make and model to ensure you can legally import the vehicle into Canada regardless of whether it is a car, truck, boat or RV.

1. Check to make sure existing warranties will be valid in Canada
2. Recall letter from the manufacturer
3. Letter of admissibility from manufacturer
4. Use a service like CarFax to check out the VIN # and the vehicles history
5. If the VIN  # starts with 1,2,3,4,5 you avoid paying the import duty which is 6.1%
